Do unto others…
As a caregiver its often hard to return hospitality, host or extend dinner invitations. Here are ways you can reciprocate in less invasive and easier to co-ordinate ways:
• Invite a friend for a walk in the park when you have help at home
• Introduce a friend to a new book or club so they can get out of the house too
• Take an hour together at a local coffee or ice cream shop
• Offer to pick up groceries or a treat at the bakery when you’re going.

Caregiving can be exhausting and at times can be hard to stay on the bright side. When you feel like your spirits need a bit of a lift try these tried and true activities.

8) Call a friend

Call or connect with a friend
Staying socially engaged and connected to our family and friends can help decrease our isolation and help boost our moods by reminding us that people do care about us. There is nothing more fun or mood improving than to chat or video chat with someone with whom you have a shared history. Sometimes those chats are full of laughter or sometimes they deal with serious issues, but they are all good chat to have. Staying connected to others is also a great way to let our loved ones know that we care about them and how they are doing.

Day-to-day worries and busy schedules can take a toll.
One thing at a time: Direct all of your attention to one activity at a time to reduce confusion and anxiety.
Take a mindful walk: Breathe slowly and check out the sky, the temperature, and the fresh air.
Keep a schedule: Making lists and keeping track of time will give you control to allow for planning of breaks.

Spend wisely
Life is expensive but each of us can find joy in the little things we can afford. For some there’s joy in getting a bargain or saving money. For others purchasing something we’ve had our eye on for a while brings a smile.
