Aging happening in silos?

Most daily activities rely on our hearing, vision, mobility, and cognition. However, aging can bring interconnected changes in our abilities. Recognizing and addressing them with prevention, treatment, and support helps older adults maintain physical, mental, and social activity. The WHO recommends integrated care to manage combined declines. This approach optimizes participation in life despite age-related sensory, motor, and cognitive changes.

Tackling child exploitation

Seventy Chicken Cottage’s locations took staff training and joined UKs #LookCloser campaign to get rid of groomers who offer fast food and clothes to gain youngsters trust before sexually abusing or forcing them into slave labour, muling drugs or money laundering. This effort aims to foster a safer community for all.

Look at the sunny side up

In the past, eggs may have had bad reputation when it came to dietary cholesterol and the risk of heart disease and stroke. However, a new study has concluded that two eggs a day can actually reduce LDL cholesterol. The study separated the effects of cholesterol and saturated fat, and found that when eaten as part of a low saturated fat diet eating eggs does not, in fact,  raise bad cholesterol levels as previously thought.

Sit-to-stand test

There’s a quick way to figure out how well parts of your body are aging. The “sit-to-stand” test is used to screen for health issues in older adults, and tells a lot about a person’s strength, balance, and flexibility. Simply sit on a chair, cross your arms so your hands are resting on opposite shoulders and see how many times you can stand and sit down in 30 seconds.
