Doing what you love
Sometimes we forget about caring for ourselves while we’re looking after other people. Here are some great new ways to help yourself say fully charged and on task so that you can show up for the people you love.
Take 5
Even if it’s for a few minutes-go for a short bike ride. Reading a couple of pages of your book, watch part of a Netflix show or grabbing your knitting to do a few rows. A few moments of indulging yourself will do wonders for you mood and even offer a bit of an energy reboot.
Find a new interest or hobby
Sometimes being around the house all day can be difficult. With on-line learning, library books and videos is much easier to try something new than ever before. Learning with a friend can also be fun.
Connect with young people
Whether they come by for a chat, help out with some of the errands or tasks around the house to provide you with some relief, or make themselves available to have a friendly visit your loved one, its often re-energizing to have youngsters around.
Hug a pet
Who says that man’s best friend can’t lift our spirits. More often than not a quick cuddle with a cat or game of fetch with a dog, is just the distraction you need. Okay so feeding the fish isn’t as much fun but they sure are pretty to watch swimming in their aquarium.
Make it fun
With today’s technology, there are plenty of ways to keep lists and schedules up to date and organized using our phones and computers. But there’s also some entertainment value to having them as well. A quick game of solitaire, a text with a friend, a sneak peak at social media will hopefully perk you up.
