Less likely to seek help or talk about it and are much faster to terminate counselling once they start. Men have been shown to be  disproportionately affected by isolation, disconnection and loneliness. Latest research shows men are:
• 29% increased risk of heart disease
• 2% higher chance of stroke
• 50% greater likelihood of dementia.

1. Get regular physical activity.
2. Maintain a nutritious diet.

Eating well for a healthier you

Fibre-rich fruits, veggies and nuts are natural ways to reduce cholesterol levels. Add these to your diet: Avocado, strawberries, walnuts, oatmeal, fatty fish, dark chocolate, artichokes, flax seed, edamame and garlic.

Everyday calcium

To maintain bone health its recommended that everyone watches their calcium levels. In particular, men and women over age 71 get 1200 mg a day. Ideal sources are milk, cheese, yogurt, almond, salmon and sardines as well as edamame, cooked kale, broccoli and bok choy.

A good night’s sleep 

Sleep regularity matters: The day-to-day hour you go to bed and the time you wake up, even on weekends, should be consistent. This is a stronger predictor of all-cause mortality according to emerging research.
