Fatigue in our 40’s

Scientists have discovered that age, variability, and fluctuating hormones being factors that lead the 40’s being the decade when we’re most tired.  Here, sleep inefficiencies are exposed,  recovery is slower, and leadership and parenting pressures take their toll on both physical and mental reserves. Although the rules change from earlier years, predictions are that new found energy can be found in later life

Finding the one

I met my wife during the pandemic on line. It was a strange frontier especially when being upfront about my Parkinson’s. Some ghosted. Some awkwardly said “sorry” and left. Then I met her. She didn’t say, “I’m sorry.” She said, “Tell me more”. She’s an Intensive Care Nurse so strength and compassion are in her DNA. She’s the reason I keep fighting even on hard days. If art were a drug

Found to improve mental abilities, boost mood and improve movement, getting lost in the music, so to speak, is said to help with range of moment, fluidity and even slow the progression of the disease. To further the cause, U of Guelph assistant professor, Rebecca Barnstaple, is leading a project called, “If art were a drug” linking Parkinson’s patients across Canada to singing and dancing programs.

AI chatbots bad advice

British-led researchers looked at AI chatbots ability to identify health problems and find solutions. There were 1,300 participants with 10 scenarios like headache after a night out drinking, a new mother feeling exhausted or what are gallstones. AI chatbots were right only a third of the time with diagnosis and  only 45 per cent of the time on solutions. No better than web searches.
